HOW TO PURCHASE A GUN ONLINE

Federal Law mandates that guns may only be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) dealer. The dealer will ensure that you are legally allowed to purchase the gun under all Federal, State and Local Laws before completing the gun transfer. The majority of dealers charge a fee for this service that is NOT included in your purchase transaction with Sportsman’s Guide and is to be paid to the FFL Dealer at the time of transfer. If applicable the FFL Dealer may also reserve the right to charge Sales Tax on your gun total as well as the transfer fee.

In order to purchase your gun and have us ship to your chosen FFL dealer, you must complete the following steps listed below before we can process your order. Failure to complete these steps will cause a delay in the shipping of your order.

Free shipping conditions;
*  Due to new dangerous goods legislation, all Ammo and Powder purchases are NOT Free Shipping eligible any more – there will be a minimum charge of $10 per order
*  Large items (such as Bulk Clay Targets) over 5kg are only free within main city centres (we will inform you of the shipping price before processing your order)

*  SAFES: Charges may apply if you are purchasing a gun safe depending on your location – freight is free to depots of main centres only. Please let us know as much information on access to your property as possible before we confirm shipping. The large safes require specific freight vehicles which cannot access all residences, or require additional vehicles or conditions.

Main Centres and further information can be found here: Depot Locations

Dangerous Goods Shipping – NEW LEGISLATION:
As of 13/05/2016 New Health and Safety rules have been imposed, forbidding the passage of DG items (ammo, powder, gas etc) across the Cook Strait, meaning courier from South Island to North and vice versa is not possible in most cases. We have engaged a new courier company to rectify this issue, but because of this we can no longer offer free freight for Ammunition purchases.

Rural Deliveries are also prohibited by any courier that is not a Fastway or Toll Courier (i.e. a 3rd party rural contractor) so Gun City can no longer offer delivery to your door, if you are Rural Delivery. You will need to call your local Toll Depot to find out – the depot list can be found here: Toll Depot Locations

We are sorry for this inconvenience however it is out of Gun City’s control and at present, there are no other alternatives.

Dangerous Goods to Chatam Islands (ammo, CO2, powder etc):
Because of the process involved with shipping to the Chatam Islands, Gun City’s policy is as follows:

– Free Shipping does not apply

– Shipping on items over $200 is $20 (dependant on what the item is)
– Shipping on items under $200 is $30 (dependant on what the item is)

In order to purchase your gun and have us ship to your chosen FFL dealer, you must complete the following steps listed below before we can process your order. Failure to complete these steps will cause a delay in the shipping of your order.

  1. PICK YOUR GUN!

If your order also contains non-gun items, those items will ship directly to you.

  2. SELECT A FFL DEALER (YOUR GUN WILL BE SHIPPED HERE)

Use our comprehensive FFL search tool to select an FFL dealer near you that will accept and perform your transfer. You can search for and select your FFL dealer now OR during the checkout process.

In-Network (Preferred Dealer) – While all authorized FFL dealers are available to select, using one of our In-Network dealers will expedite the processing of your order, saving you time. In-Network dealers have agreed to process compliant ATF gun transfers for Sportsman’s Guide customers (dealer transfer fees still apply).

Live in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area? Select Sportsman’s Guide’s Retail Store as your FFL dealer to avoid FFL transfer fees!

Out-of-Network – When using an FFL that is not a Sportsman’s Guide In-Network dealer; prior to placing your order, first contact the dealer to ensure they are willing to process the transfer for you and that the gun is compliant with Federal, State and Local Laws.

  3. CONTACT FFL DEALER

In-Network (Preferred Dealer) – Contact the dealer to ensure the gun is compliant with Federal, State and Local Laws.

Out-of-Network – Contact the dealer to confirm that the transfer is compliant with Federal, State and Local Laws and that the chosen dealer will assist the transfer.

  4. SUBMIT YOUR ORDER!

A flat rate Gun Processing Fee will be applied for each gun on your order:
Hand Guns – $9.99 (2nd Day Air Shipping to FFL Dealer)
Long Guns – $4.99 (Ground Shipping to FFL Dealer)

  5. PICK UP YOUR GUN AT YOUR SELECTED FFL DEALER

Work with your selected FFL dealer to arrange your gun transfer. At the time of pick up, you will need to arrive with all proper identification and documentation / licenses to show that you can legally purchase and possess the gun.
